My Memorial Weekend Thoughts
It seems with each passing year, we get further and further away from the traditional Memorial weekend celebrations. I can't remember the last Memorial Day BBQ we shared to gather as a whole family and by "whole family", I mean grandparents, cousins and Aunts and Uncles. It seems that we have all become to busy and we don't want to take the time to get together for a few hours and enjoy each others company. I know that I am partly to blame for this gradual seperation but there have also been circumstances within the family such as bad blood, deaths, drama and distance that has forever changed the way we do things as an extended family. My grandmothers would roll over in their graves if they knew how little we have to do with each other but I vow to make a difference with my children and one day my grandchildren. I want my home to be a place of acceptance where we are free to be who we are, a constant refuge from the storms of life and where fond memories are made.

Oh don't I totally agree with you. When did families get too complicated to even have a nice gathering? When did we all decide that spending time away from them is more fun? sad....very sad.
ReplyDeleteGood for you to set a new standard for your kids and future grandbabies :)
